Je bent een succesvolle barista, zo succesvol dat het je naar het hoofd is gestegen, waardoor je denkt dat je een koffiebedrijf beter kunt runnen dan je baas. Om je vaardigheden aan de wereld te bewijzen, heb je je baan opgezegd om je eigen café te openen in de prachtige stad Berlijn. Het enige probleem is dat al je vrienden – die ook succesvolle barista’s zijn – hetzelfde deden!
In Seize the Bean strijden spelers om het beste nieuwe café in Berlijn. Reputatie in zowel Berlijn (in het echte leven) als in de game wordt verdiend door mensen: alle uiteenlopende klanten die je bedient. Je begint alleen met je familie en vrienden, en je moet elke beurt prioriteit geven aan je beperkte acties om klanten aan te trekken, de inrichting van je café te upgraden, je productlijn uit te breiden en je middelen aan te vullen om de beste reputatie van allemaal te krijgen.
Voordat je elke beurt actie kunt ondernemen, moet je ook een rij dorstige klanten bedienen met verschillende drankverzoeken. Terwijl je ze bedient, bieden klanten speciale vaardigheden om jouw linie, de stad of zelfs andere spelers te manipuleren. Maar zorg ervoor dat u voldoende voorraad bij de hand heeft, anders kunnen klanten ongeduldig worden en slechte recensies achterlaten, wat uw winkel ten onder zou kunnen gaan. Houd ze tevreden en misschien kun je combo’s vormen met klanten, upgrades en producten, en in-game reputatiepunten (goede recensies) verdienen vanuit een centrale ‘stadspool’. Wees er snel bij, want als deze reputatie eenmaal verdwenen is, wordt het eindspel geactiveerd, zodat iedereen nog maar een laatste serveerstap hoeft te doen om te zien hoe goed zijn engine werkt!
You are a successful barista, so successful that’s it’s gone to your head, making you think you can run a coffee business better than your boss. In order to prove your skills to the world, you’ve quit your job to open your own café in the beautiful city of Berlin. The only problem is that all your friends — who are also successful baristas – did the same thing, too!
In Seize the Bean, players compete to be the best new café in Berlin. Reputation in both Berlin (in real life) and the game is earned from people — all the diverse customers you’ll serve. You start only with your family and friends, and you have to prioritize your limited actions each turn to attract customers, upgrade your café’s decor, expand your product line, and restock your resources in order to get the most reputation of all.
Before you can take actions each turn, you also have to serve a line of thirsty customers with various drink demands. As you serve them, customers offer special skills to manipulate your line, the city, or even other players. But make sure you have enough stock on hand or customers may get impatient and start leaving you bad reviews which could doom your shop. Keep them happy and you may be able to form combos with customers, upgrades and products, earning in-game reputation points (good reviews) from a central “city” pool. Be fast because once this pool of reputation is gone, the endgame is triggered, allowing everyone only a final serve step to see how well their engine works!
