Caesar: Rome vs. Gallië is een snel te spelen, gemakkelijk te leren kaartspel voor twee spelers over Caesars verovering van Gallië. Eén speler speelt Caesar terwijl hij probeert rijkdom en roem te verwerven in Gallia ten koste van de Galliërs. De andere speler bestuurt alle onafhankelijke stammen van Gallië terwijl ze langzaam wakker worden voor het gevaar van de Romeinse verovering.
Caesar: Rome vs. Gallië gebruikt veel van de kernregels en systemen die worden gebruikt in Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage. Spelers krijgen aan het begin van elke beurt 8 kaarten gedeeld en gebruiken hun kaarten om hun legers te verplaatsen en controlemarkeringen te plaatsen. Spelers die bekend zijn met Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage zullen dit spel snel onder de knie krijgen.
Het spel beslaat het hoogtepunt van de Gallische oorlogen, de periode tussen 57 voor Christus en 52 voor Christus toen Caesar heen en weer campagne voerde door Gallië, waarbij hij de ene opstand na de andere neersloeg en Germania en Britannia binnenviel. Eenheden zijn individuele Romeinse legioenen of Gallische stammen. Elke beurt vertegenwoordigt een jaar.
Caesar: Rome vs. Gaul is a fast-playing, easy-to-learn, two-player card-driven game on Caesar’s conquest of Gaul. One player plays Caesar as he attempts to gain wealth and fame in Gallia at the expense of the Gauls. The other player controls all the independent tribes of Gaul as they slowly awake to the peril of Roman conquest.
Caesar: Rome vs. Gaul uses many of the core rules and systems used in Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage. Players are dealt 8 cards at the start of each turn and use their cards to move their armies and place control markers. Players familiar with Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage will quickly learn this game.
The game covers the height of the Gallic Wars, the period between 57 BC and 52 BC when Caesar campaigned back and forth across Gaul putting down one rebellion after another and invading Germania and Britannia. Units are individual Roman Legions or Gallic Tribes. Each turn represents one year.
