De pantsers rollen….

De tanks bereiden zich voor op actie. De brandstoftanks werden gevuld en de munitie geladen. De commandanten overleggen nog een laatste keer om het strijdplan te herzien. Ze wachten op uw orders.

Terwijl de mist optrekt, verplaatst je belegerde gevechtsgroep zich opnieuw in positie om de terugtrekkende infanterie te dekken. Het is hun enige mogelijke ontsnappingsroute. Falen is geen optie – dat is het nooit. Jullie gelederen zijn uitgedund sinds jullie eerste dagen aan het Oostfront. Die eens zo rustige tijden zijn nu gekomen en gegaan. Het doel is eenvoudig. Het is gewoon een kwestie van vasthouden aan de linie totdat de versterkingen arriveren.

De scherpe knal van een tankkanon aan uw rechterzijde vestigt uw aandacht snel weer op de betreffende situatie. De vijand rukt snel op. Je geeft het flankelement de opdracht om in te schakelen, terwijl je je scherpe blik naar links gericht houdt, in de veronderstelling dat dit gewoon weer een afleidende schijnbeweging is.

Nogmaals, je vermoedens zijn juist. Hun hoofdmacht brak zojuist over de helling aan je linkerkant. Je bestelt het hoofdgedeelte naar voren. De motoren rommelen, de kanonnen kraken en explosies barsten los. Jouw troepen zullen opnieuw de dag dragen!

The Panzers Roll….

The tanks prepare for action. The fuel tanks topped off and the ammo loaded. The commanders confer one final time to review the battle plan. They await your orders.

As the fog clears, your beleaguered battle group once again moves into position to cover the retreating infantry. It is their only possible escape route. Failure is not an option – it never is. Your ranks have thinned since your first days on the Eastern Front. Those once halcyon times have now come and gone. The objective is simple. It is just a matter of holding the line until the reinforcements arrive.

The sharp report of a tank gun to your right quickly focuses your attention back to the situation at hand. The enemy is quickly advancing. You order the flank element to engage, all the while keeping a sharp eye peeled to the left thinking this is just another diversionary feint.

Again, your suspicions are correct. Their main force just broke over the rise on your left. You order the main body forward. The engines rumble, the guns crack, and explosions erupt. Your forces will once more carry the day!
